Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar Chairs Technical Training Session at 19th Annual Rural Women Leadership Conference
Protection for women exists in law, in institutions and in the offices of those who serve them, but it only reaches a woman when she is aware. Platforms where rural women leaders, survivors, institutions and diplomats sit together turn that system from a promise into something women can see and trust.
Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar participated as a Session Chair in the Capacity Building Technical Training Session “Preventing Violence against Women & Girls: Reality & Remedies” at the 19th Annual Rural Women Leadership Training Conference, held at Lok Virsa, Islamabad.
The conference was organised by PODA-Pakistan. The session was held in collaboration with the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), the Women Development Department, Government of Sindh, Noor Education Trust (NET) – Mera Ghar, Peshawar, and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), and was co-funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
The session brought together rural women leaders, survivors, government representatives and diplomats to discuss national and global best practices for stopping violence against women and girls and strengthening rehabilitation. It included survivor testimonies, institutional innovations and an interactive dialogue to develop solution strategies.
The Federal Ombudsperson was joined by the Minister of Women Development, Government of Sindh, Ms. Shaheena Sherali, the Ambassador of Ireland, HE Ms. Mary O’Neil, the Ambassador of Germany, HE Ms. Ina Lapel, and PODA Board Member Mr. Irfan Ahmed Urfi.
FOSPAH remains committed to ensuring that every woman, in every workplace across Pakistan, knows that a system exists to protect her and that she is not alone.
