As complaint volumes grow and public expectations of speedy redressal rise, Ombudsman institutions worldwide are looking at how Artificial Intelligence can strengthen their work without compromising fairness, confidentiality or public trust. To shape a common approach, the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), the global network of Ombudsman institutions, held the first meeting of its AI Working Group.
Mr. Kamal Zafar, Assistant Director IT, and Mr. Waqar Ahmad, Assistant Registrar, represented FOSPAH Pakistan.
During the meeting, Ms. Anete Ilves of the Ombudsperson’s Office of Latvia was elected Chairperson by vote, with Pakistan supporting and voting in favour of her selection.
The meeting focused on developing a shared agenda among Ombudsman institutions on the potential and responsible use of AI, particularly in complaint filing, processing and institutional functions. Members also discussed sharing best practices and experiences on AI adoption.
FOSPAH Pakistan congratulates the Ombudsperson’s Office of Latvia on its election to lead the Working Group and looks forward to continued international collaboration in promoting the effective and responsible use of AI in Ombudsman institutions.
