FOSPAH Leads Awareness Walk and Seminar at UMT Lahore to Promote Safer Academic Spaces
Change begins with awareness, and awareness begins with courage. At UMT Lahore, the awareness session embodied the spirit of #HumBadleingeSoch, urging participants to challenge harmful norms and embrace accountability. The day commenced with an awareness walk, a symbolic act of solidarity against harassment and a pledge to build safer academic spaces. The Honorable Federal Ombudsperson then delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the urgency of protecting fundamental rights and strengthening institutional safeguards. Senior leadership, including Dr. Asif Raza (Rector), Dr. Naida Anwar (Chairperson, Anti-Harassment Committee), faculty members, and senior management, stood alongside students, reinforcing that transformation requires collective will. With more than 130 participants, the seminar became a platform for dialogue and empowerment, supported by a dedicated campus booth that guided students on their rights under the law. Muhammad Shazib Iqbal, Assistant Law Officer, presented the key provisions of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010, and engaged participants in a dynamic Q&A session, bridging the gap between legal frameworks and lived realities.
